Soaking prayer is a time to rest and wait in God’s presence.
Why?
We are good at talking to God, but how about the other half of the conversation? Soaking prayer is one way we can listen and receive from God.
Psalm 23…He makes us lie down in green pastures, he leads us by still waters, he restores our souls. When we follow his call to be still, to lie down and simply be with him, we will be restored and refreshed.
John 15…Abide in the vine…intimacy with God is the key to fruitfulness in our lives. By spending time in the secret place, we become more aware of his presence in us, so do others. As we become more affected by his presence in us, so do others.
How?
We lie down, or sit if you prefer. We pray and invite Holy Spirit to come and minister to us as we put on peaceful music and wait in his presence. There is the opportunity for a member of the community of The House of Bread to pray for you.
Jesus said, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink…”John 7v37
‘Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters…listen, listen to me…’ Isaiah 55v1
‘Be still and know that I am God…’ Psalm 46v10
‘Wait on the Lord…he shall strengthen your heart, wait I say, on the Lord’ Psalm 27v14
Where and when?
Soaking prayer is open to all and takes place in the Mill or the Barn, on the third Tuesday evening of every month, 8:00-9:00pm (7:30pm for coffee).
